Etymology: Cannabis has been used as an aid for curing over one thousand symptoms of diseases including glaucoma, nausea associated with cancer and AIDS, arthritis, fatigue, migraine headaches, cramps and depression associated with menstruating, and asthma. With over 60 therapeutic compounds in cannabis that are healing agents it is no wonder that hemp has the taxonomic nomenclature of cannabis (hemp) sativa (of many uses). Many people feel that is better to refer to this powerful plant in a positive manner, as a medical aid, than refer to it as weed or dope.

Gorge (verb)
Pronunciation: rhymes with forge
Definition: to jump into one of the gorges
Attested: Someone was talking about how some people cannot take the pressure of college, and commit suicide.
Etymology: That test was so hard, that I almost gorged myself.
Etymology: The word comes from the large cliff-faced casems that have been dug into by a river for stream for thousands of years. Because of their beauty and danger, many have been attracted to the gorges. Some people see more than aesthetically pleasing sights when they see it. They see a way to escape the world. Although, when people speak about gorging themselves, it is usually not serious, it is in acutality a very serious matter. The first time that I heard it, it was in a very serious way and I continue to believe that it should not be refered to in jest.

Although the word gorges is an a word used everywhere in the world, in Ithaca, it has a special meaning, especially when written in the phrase, "Ithaca is Gorges". This is found on many T-shirts and it is sort of a play on words, having to meanings. One is the literal one, that there are many gorges in Ithaca. The other is that Ithaca is gorgeous, beautiful. This phrase is catchy, and it works because both words sound very similar.
